About

Ballard Forge is an independent metalsmithing studio founded in Seattle's historic Ballard neighborhood.

The philosophy is simple:

While equally adept at the most brutal structural steel work to delicate Empire period French furniture, the studio is well versed in the classic vernacular without being bound by it.

Utilizing timeless joinery techniques and modern innovations,  Ballard Forge has developed a contemporary repertoir that delivers a seamless product, synchronized with minimal welds while not sacrificing structural integrity.

Ballard Forge strives for the highest quality ethics- the price you are quoted is the price you'll pay, period.

Quality goes more than skin deep at Ballard Forge. Steve has held professional certifications including The American Society of Nondestructive Testing Level III in Ultrasonic and eddy current inspection, American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector, WABO certified welder and International Code Council certifications in High strength bolting and Welding inspection. This same level of quality consciousness is imparted on every project in the studio, from the micro to the macro, every day.

When Steve is not in the shop he can often be found on remote jobsites with Seattle Bridge exercising his love of high iron and the outdoors.

Ballard Forge has been featured in engineering and academic textbooks, History Channel documentaries, university studies and historic bridge rehabilitations worldwide in addition to fine homes and businesses everywhere.

Ballard Forge is now currently located at 14045 Midvale ave. N  Seattle, Washington 98133      206-235-3246
